Wedding speech suggestions for sister of the bride?

I’m in my sister’s wedding next week and she and the groom have requested that everyone in the wedding party speak briefly… I’m stuck. Any suggestions? I’d rather it be unique and real, not traditional or cheesy. And heartfelt things are most likely over the top for this situation. Thanks!
Think of a funny or enlightening story from childhood that hinted at what your sister would be like or want when she grew up. Alternatively tell them about the time that you realized what a great and long lasting couple they would be. From there, wish them all the happiness and pass the mic.

The Flip Video camcorder belongs to the bride’s father, Peter, but as he was busy making the speech this video was shot by his 14-year-old grandson, Josh. Peter set out to make the speech a little bit different and, judging by the laughter, he succeeded.His first words were missed: They were: “Ladies and gentlemen..and Sunday footballers.” The bridegroom is a keen member of a Sunday soccer side and many of his teammates were present.

can the bride make a speech at her wedding?

we are going away to get married and having a reception when we return, so there for we won’t be having a wedding party. i love speeches and speaking in front of people so i would really like to thank everyone myself and tell my new husband how much i love him in front of everyone…. is this appropriate? although i know he won’t give one even if i do-he on the other hand is terrified of public speaking. my friend that is doing all of the MOH work wants to speak & we thought about having the fathers say a few words…. who should do the speeches in this situation?!?!?
Whatever you choose, its your day and you decide. The last wedding i went to the bride and groom made a speech together thanking all the people who came and helped them out with things, they also expressed their love for each other and the happiness that the day brough them, it was very nice.

When should the bride and groom have their first dance?

I know its usually when the bride and groom are introduced entering the reception… but we are only hiring our DJ for the dance portion and therefore have no music during this time (besides an ipod playing dinner music). Can we have the first dance after speeches? to kick off the dancing? would this be weird? lol im picturing us just walking in then going straight to our tables?
I’m a DJ and many couples do it the way you are envisioning.
No problem.
The reason other couples dance right after the Grand Entrance is because they’re so nervous and want to get it out of the way.
